Regarding Discord’s Upcoming Age Verification Changes
Many may have concerns about Discord’s announced age-verification rollout, set to start in March 2026.
We’ve been following the discussions closely and understand that this update creates uncertainty around privacy, data handling, and potential long-term platform changes.
This isn’t the kind of update we were hoping for.
At the same time, we don’t want to react hastily.
Major legislative changes regarding online age verification are underway globally.
It’s very likely that similar requirements will affect other platforms as well, so moving immediately to an alternative may only delay the same situation from happening again.
Our Current Position
We will wait and see how the implementation actually affects our community in practice.
We will monitor how Discord rolls this out, what is required, and what real limitations (if any) it creates for our server.
We will carefully research alternatives, but we do not want to fragment the community with rushed decisions.
As for our events and server structure, we do not currently expect major disruptions — even with “teen-level” access.
Exploring Backup Options
That said, we believe it’s wise to strengthen our independence:
We are setting up a newsletter soon as an additional communication channel, so we can stay connected regardless of platform shifts.
We will also continue looking into long-term alternatives — but carefully and realistically.
We fully understand the privacy concerns many of you have expressed.
These are valid discussions.
At the same time, we want to approach this thoughtfully rather than react emotionally to early reports or incomplete information.
Our goal is community stability first.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more, and we welcome constructive input and perspectives.
